ernst haas (1921-1986)

"A picture can be an answer as well as a question but if you can't answer your question try to question your question. There are clever questions and stupid answers as well as stupid questions and clever answers. There can be questions without answers but no answers without questions. To be or not to be — that is the question. To see or not to see — that is an answer."

— Ernst Haas

Produced an educational DVD Biography spanning the life of the artist Ben-Zion (1897-1987). To be included in the exhibition at The Mitchell Gallery at St. James Collage in Annapolis, MD.

The Ben-Zion Art Exhibit at The Mitchell Gallery

Ben-Zion, a founding member of "The Ten," a group of expressionist painters who stood against the conservative academic painting in pre-war New York, celebrated his European Jewish heritage in his visual works as a sculptor, painter and printmaker. This exhibition of Ben-Zion's metal and wood sculptures and accompanying paintings and graphic works will include personal artifacts and antiquities that provided inspiration for his art and writings. All of the pieces in the collection are from the Ben-Zion estate.

Uninterrupted Seeing-a film about Harold Feinstein

Directors: Todd Weinstein & Peter Norrman

A film about Harold Feinstein whose photography career spans over 50 years, and who is known for both mastering black and white documentary style work and digital technology as an artistic medium. Renowned photography critic and historian A. D. Coleman has said of his early work: “Here is New York small-camera photography at its best – humanistic, intimate, engaged, almost intrusive.” He went on to call Feinstein “a true photographer’s photographer.”
In early 2000, Feinstein began to work in digital technology, resulting in seven color books published by Little, Brown, & Company. The celebrated One Hundred Flowers (2000) is now in it’s third printing. His trend-setting in the arena of digital photography earned him the Smithsonian Institute’s Computerworld Smithsonian Award, in 2000
